I’ve finally bitten the bullet and spent half an hour creating a new theme for this blog.

• The main content is wider;
• The code blocks are 50% bigger and hence easier to read;
• The header image is smaller so it won’t decimate my bandwidth limit;
• The page now looks more modern and fresh.

What’s with the baby in the top right? This blog is all about enjoying coding – not doing it because you have to pay the bills, but because you love it. I think sometimes we programmers let people tell us we’re nerds or geeks, and in self-defence we start telling ourselves that we only do it for the money, that we wouldn’t be programmers if we didn’t have to be.

I say enough!

I like coding. If that makes me a geek then so be it. I’d rather go through life enjoying what I do, instead of spending eight hours a day bored or miserable. Be proud of what you do. Codito Ergo Sum.

Oh yeah, the baby. I wanted to conjure up the idea of being innocent about coding – not jaded, not religious, not bored of the same old form-based business apps – but coding for fun, in your spare time, because you want to.
